Toronto based photographer Jesse Herzog has been on our radar already for a long time. The extremely talented photographer creates timeless youthful art through pictures telling deeper stories.
“I think my work is cinematic and emotional, which are related things.” With a background in film production, Jesse tries to create images that could be from a movie. “When it’s not working out, I look to create interesting images using light. Even the short films I’ve made have had strong visual aspects to them. A perfect image for me is one that combines cinematic mood, emotion, and visual appeal. I want my models to be more than just a part of a pretty picture, but to become characters within a frame.” he tells us. “I take most of my inspiration from cinema – filmmakers such as Fellini, Bergman, Godard, Anderson, etc. I’ve been shooting portraits for about a year and a half now, but only within the past 6 months or so do I think my work has really started to become close to what I want it to be.” For her future so far he hasn´t got any exact plans – he´s just goes with the flow. “My goal is still to make feature films in the future but it’s been difficult to balance that along with photography. Eventually I’ll figure it out.” Thanks Jesse for creating such wonderful work!
