“I guess every photographer or creative person knows the feeling of an undescribable desire that lies somewhere deep inside you. A desire to create something that you feel you have an idea about, but you can’t really grab its essence and put it into words, can’t write a story about it and can’t even imagine the visions properly. A desire to realize and implement something that is yours, that you did for yourself. It feels like a goal that you always know you can and will achieve someday, but you just don’t know what it is yet.

I realized that I might have fulfilled one of these vague desires when I was sifting through the shots of this series with Claudia. Again, it’s difficult to explain, but I realized that I wanted to shoot exactly these pictures in this kind of scenery and give them this precise look for a long time.

I am not able to explain why this came up now. I guess letting most parts of my life behind and moving to Bali, while not focusing a hundred percent on photography anymore and shooting on as many occasions as I can, wasn’t the worst thing to do.

To me, these pictures have a touch of gold. They give me a feeling of intimacy, heat and sweat, thick air with warm breezes and cold bedsheets.
You will find influences of some (mainly US) film photographers in them aswell a bit of a retro vibe thanks to Claudia and her amazing performance. A feeling of closeness while appearing so untouchableat the same time. The playful and enchanted atmosphere at Boho Bali did the rest.

Finishing up the series and writing these words, I can´t ignore a hunger inside me to create more. It seems there are still desires to be fulfilled. So here we go again…”
