“I try to take as much knowledge and experiences from many countries but also I like to leave things too. I like the exchange of cultures.”
Beyond doubt the work of London based Roberto Rubalcava will carry you to another place. Incredibly fanciful, blurred and as if they are out of a dream the Mexico City raised and born photographer draws his own pictures. Full of romance and desire. Innocent, honest, pure and sincere visuals which he describes himself a mix between fiction and reality focusing on everyday themes exploring and documenting his life and the life of others.
How did the world of photography show up in your life?
When I was in my early 20’s I was looking for an excuse to travel to discover the world. It was such an exciting idea to expand my horizon and to learn about the different cultures. Photography gave me just that! Actually it gave me the tool to go deeper and get more emotional knowledge. I wanted to be an airline pilot that was too complicated so I bought a camera and set off.
Browsing your images you have a very soft and dreamy style. Is this something which is a bigger part of your personality?

And what do you want to capture in your pictures?
It is a continuous investigation.
