“CK one. Me for me.” Is this the motto of the new generation? Mario Sorrenti shot this fashionable advertising for a new global campaign of Calvin Klein’s perfume CK One. Everything from the perspective of Selfies featuring Taeyang, Dev Hynes, Samantha Urbani, Evian Christ, Say Lou Lou, Kelela and more. Many kisses included. And yes, they also set up a tumblr page for sharing some behind-the-scenes GIFs.

The modeling industry is highly sexualized. The image of David Beckham’s spread eagle crotch shot in an underwear ad is still alive and well in the forefront of my brain. Oh, did I mention that I’m a lesbian?
But God forbid that amidst the plethora of hetero and gay male sexually charged ads there are two women kissing. This seems like a double, or triple , standard, a result of our patriarchal mentality as a society and the “fear” that women can do what they want, when they want and have the best sec ever all without a man. Calvin Klein, I have been a customer for years but pulling this ad is going to change my buying habits. Of course I know you do not care . Most companies do not care about lesbian market share let alone want we have to say. This is because lesbians make up such a tiny, tiny percent of our population. That tiny segment both being female and limited in numbers, doesn’t have the disposable income that the much larger gay male community does. This is not just based on the size of each group but the reality of what women earn vs. their male counterparts.
