“I want people to love themselves for what they are, come as they are and not feel anyone has to conform to any ideas of a mass”
Sophie Manou alias Manou just made a slash in the UK scene with her sweet, unintentional and summery electro-pop songs. Kinda the girl next door the only 17 year young German girl is a fresh face radiating naturalness, and a down-to-earth talent who delivers a very important message in all her music. Not to yield on any social pressure for not being yourself.
We are happy to present the video premiere for “We Are” which is again a slow-beat good mood summer song. “We thought it be cool to play on the fact I am always compared to Britney…. so we were like: OK let’s take ‘Hit Me Baby One More Time to 2014!” Manou tells on the video. “I wanted to shoot a dance video for a very long time and the marking was a blast! Being still at school in Düsseldorf my weekend were spend with rehearsing the routine in my bedroom and then flying over to London to prepare with my Choreographer, Lesslie. This woman knows how to work your body, being an original Crazy Horse Dancer from Paris.” And she continues about the track itself and his inspiration: “We Are’ is a hymn to individuality. This song is about being an individual and being proud of it. I want people to love themselves for what they are, come as they are and not feel anyone has to conform to any ideas of a mass. Being in school while recording and filming this video, it is like my ode to everyone at college who should feel pressure of growing up and with standing your own grounds.”
Watch out for her debutalbum which is produced by Pnut who also worked already for Amy Winehouse, Eliza Doolittle and Dido.
