“People come and go in my life like the wind and it’s so easy to lose yourself in the fashion industry because you continually change yourself to meet clients’ expectations. God keeps me grounded.”
Model Mary @ Trump Model Management & Factor Model Management fascinates with her looks as well as with strong mind that shines through in the 5 minutes chat we had with her. Chicago based photographer Jingyu Lin captured her for us with those exclusive images – and Mary´s smile brightens up our start of the week.
What is the strangest, most personal thing about you?
I was on the math team in High School. We had a cheer and a full uniform—think short shorts, high socks, rip off pants, and sweat bands (because you know how much math makes you sweat). I still think Euler’s identity is the most beautiful thing.
What does your typical day look like?
Right now I’m in NY preparing for the fall show season so everyday looks like castings castings, castings, photoshoots, and more castings. Some days I even get the time to treat myself to an iced mocha from Dépaunner in Brooklyn!! Back home in Chicago my average day looks like a wonderful green smoothie followed by a riveting discussion on Kant. After Kant class and a few more round table philosophy discussions, I’ll probably head downtown for a fitting or a fashion show. Oh and then homework!!
Where and with whom can we find you on a Saturday night?
Every weekend you can most likely find me at Montrose Beach if I’m in Chicago. After wrapping up our last game of beach volleyball, Pete and I are probably leisurely walking home along all the beaches of Lake Michigan. When we finally get home we’ll grill some burgers with our friends and argue about how well done they are (the burgers not the friends).
Pro tip: stuff your burgers with peanut butter and bananas (it’s divine I promise)
Your favorite accessories?
My favorite accessory is most certainly my Claddagh Ring. My dad always promised my sisters and I Claddagh rings for our sixteenth birthdays and when he passed my mom followed through on the promise. The Claddagh Ring is a traditional Irish ring that represents friendship, love, and loyalty. Some people label it as a “relationship ring” because the hand you wear it on and the direction the heart is pointed show where your heart is. But I see it as more than just a relationship status.
The most important thing in life?
God – plain and simple he’s the only thing you can count on especially in the world of fashion where everything is of the minute and changing extremely fast. People come and go in my life like the wind and it’s so easy to lose yourself in the fashion industry because you continually change yourself to meet clients’ expectations. God keeps me grounded.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
Living a quiet and simple life with Pete. Curled up near a fireplace reading some post-structuralist writings and eating some home-baked double chocolate pound cake. YES! Baking! I’d love to open a bakery or a coffee shop, something low key and cheap but with excellent espresso and lots of chill space. Preferably in a rainy place, I love the rain.
