“I usually treat modelling like acting; I always have a character in mind, which helps to take away any insecurities – unless they want to shoot ‘me’.”
Meet Lily Inge Newmark at First Model Management photographed by Ola Ajani for C-Heads
You got scouted for Father Sculptor’s music video ‘Lowlands’. What has changed for you meanwhile?
A lot! Modelling wasn’t ever the plan, but when it became an option I thought, “why not?” Since then I’ve met a lot of great people and had some pretty cool experiences within the fashion industry.
Model-icon?
Kate Moss – repin the ickle models from saaf landan!
What does beauty mean to you?
It shouldn’t mean a lot, but it does. It’s a very broad concept but one way I see it is whatever is natural is beautiful… but then again, not everything beautiful is natural… and to be honest not everything natural is beautiful… like war, for instance.
Do you ever get shy in front of the camera?
It totally depends on the photographer and the rest of the team. I usually treat modelling like acting; I always have a character in mind, which helps to take away any insecurities – unless they want to shoot ‘me’.
Favorite movie?
Carrie (1976)
What’s the best and worst thing about being a model?
I get a lot of stick for the way I look but I also get a lot of support. It’s no surprise that I get treated like a piece of meat or a rag doll sometimes but at other times I’ve felt so confident and comfortable in myself, which I hadn’t felt before I started modelling, which has been a great boost for my self-esteem.
What is Happiness?
Endorphins.
And what do you fear most in life?
Being without the ones I love.
Where do you see yourself in the future?
In reality… a poor struggling actor. In my dreams… a successful actor/director/writer/model/artist/something fun?! Who knows… maybe I’ll move to Mars.
