The Virgin Suicides has always been a fascinating movie for Texas based photographer and filmmaker Lindsey L33. “The plot follows five young sisters that ultimately take their lives at the end of the story, while all along being misunderstood by everyone around them. They share a connection that transcends the everyday mundane, and each choose to move on to the next phase. Their mystique is examined, analyzed, and mourned by the entire neighborhood.”
The intention of this wonderful C-Heads Exclusive starring Katelyn, Kendal, Ashley, Maggie and Cara was to emulate the attitudes of the girls and the connection they shared. “The mood was inspired by the classic 70s colors in the movie – starting with illustrating one scene I found to be very inspiring and then creating two other scenes to complement the first. I shot this series because, to me, sisterhood appears to be dwindling these days. Intimate conversations have become casual texts, and the days of staying up late, sharing makeup, and gossiping have turned into staying up late – so you can take some photos with your friends – just so everyone knows that you’re not alone. The lazy afternoons that used to consist of playing in the sun, trading secrets, and spending time with the people you like most, are now filled with frenemy fakeness, creating the perfect filter for Instagram, and Snapchatting any moment worth remembering. This series is about going back to the time when cellphones weren’t relevant, and the only thing that really mattered was imagination.” Styling done by Lunar Kingdom.
