One dancer, one camera and nine different images put together into one picture, accompany the cool track Ribbon produced by L.A. based Parks Burton and electronic musician Kazimier, that is out of their joint EP “Gift” ( release date June 18th 2015). “The dancer had to repeat her interpretation of the song in a looped choreography nine times thus had to push her body to the limits of control. Forcing it to precision and repetition was pretending the body is a machine. But with the relentless gaze of the camera, it becomes obvious that humans are not machines and dancers are no robots. The most beautiful moments of the combined repetitions are the failures, the asynchronities and seconds out of step that create an almost cubistic sculpture. The body in the final picture is not whole, but shattered into fragments, like the shattered music of “Ribbon” on the search for the internal powers that can tear you apart. In these terms the video presents analogue time loops and shows how different realities can be true at the same time.” The video is done by Blank Blank production company.
