Are there any upcoming projects or collaborations you have approaching that you can speak about?
I’m always writing new songs, definitely focusing on my own original material I hope to release a single very soon :)
What are the most played songs in your iTunes in the last month?
Quickie – Fortune, Girl – The Internet , Travis Scott – Antidote, Bryson Tiller & Tory Lanez & I might even be guilty of some Nick Jonas.
You have mentioned in the past of your interest in experimental music and “free styling” in terms of song structure and form, do you have anything in the works that pursues this further?
I do which is exciting I’ve been experimenting with all different types of music but I’m focusing on singles at the moment but when I release an EP I will hopefully have some art pieces in there.
You’ve talked about using sexuality as a song topic more so in a way that is empowering to women beyond just typical romance and heartbreak, and delving into deeper topics, could you elaborate on this a bit more?
Sure well for me it’s easy to write about sex and boys probably because I listen to allot of Rnb and that’s mostly all they sing about. I definitely love to write songs about girls having power and attitude kind of like how male rappers do it. But I also like to write about stories from my childhood and being exposed to alcoholism at a young age. I find it quite difficult to write about this in particular as it’s quite personal and hard to write without sounding “oh poor me”. I don’t like to dwell on the past but I think it is important for people to know where I have come from to understand me better.
Often times singers within the electronic dance world get caught in a cycle of being featured vocalists, is this something you are trying to stray away from with your upcoming project?
I love collaborating with people as you can probably tell and I still get to collaborate with people when I’m making my original music because I work with all different kinds of producers. For now the focus is on my music but if an opportunity comes up to collaborate with one of my favourite artists I won’t turn it down.
Preferred place: Studio or Stage?
I like both for different reasons I like the process of writing because it can be lots of fun and challenging as well. Then to be able to perform and see people enjoying what you have made is definitely more rewarding. When you see people singing along to something you wrote it is definitely a surreal feeling and something that never gets old.
