Photographer Roberto Brundo and gorgeous Model Sophia spent 10 days in the South of Italy, where his dad´s family is from. A good way to escape the slowly colder getting Berlin in order to catch the last rays of sun and warmth before university starts. Equipped with two film cameras, the Mamiya 645 1000s medium format and the Contax G2 they headed off and came back with some visual pearls.
“On the way to the beach we had to use this really old country road which winds through the hills and then follows the cliffs along the coast and the view was really great. We only had my grandma’s old blue Nissan Micra, I think you can see it on one of the pictures. That’s where we found the first location – in the old ruins. There was an old way leading us uphill and there we took the first pictures. The place looked really abandoned and you could tell by the sloppy graffiti that the village youth probably hangs out there every once in a while. The second location was in the small Italian village “Aquafredda”, known for it’s lonely beach with really cold water. Before we went swimming we stopped by an old, abandoned house. Looked like the owners had no money to finish up the building. We really liked the balconies, so we went inside and shot the next pictures. Our last stop before the beach was this weirdly looking, geometrical statue with a red top. We also took some pictures in the city of Sapri, actually one of the more famous vacation spots in Salerno, but it’s pretty empty there during September. It was Sophia’s first time in Italy and I think she really enjoyed it and I’m glad I could show her the typical South Italian countryside.”
