“I’m not a musician. I’m not a singer. I’m not even a writer. I’m just a dreamer – romancing over yesterday and tomorrow.”
An aura of mystery and intrigue surrounds Australian musician Aquila Young and her musical exploration of the forces of light and dark.
Part musician, part something else Aquila exists somewhere in between the light and the dark – the two dynamic forces she says empower every one of her lyrics, chords and melodies with intention and emotion. Intrigued by this unique musician C-Heads are excited to premiere her breathtaking collaboration with talented Australian based filmmaker and photographer Danny McShane who has created a beautiful portrait of her subconscious that captures Aquila Young’s unique outlook on life and explores how she translates her experience into music.
A manifesto of sorts the piece explores the themes of light and dark and their effect on Aquila and her creative process. Aquila asserts that the way she experiences light and darkness affects her body. ‘It travels down my spine and saturates my core with a motivation to express myself. This is my ultimate passion. Sound. Vision. Movement. I try to make my whole life a form of expression.’
Ultimately though, Aquila admits ‘I’m not a musician. I’m not a singer. I’m not even a writer. I’m just a dreamer – romancing over yesterday and tomorrow. Not today though. Today can wait.’ We hope you enjoy this journey into the beautiful subconscious of this intriguing musician.
