Leo Berne collaborated with the Taiwanese brand DVMVGE wanting to do a series about what fascinates him about Asia – “the (mostly) peaceful cohabitation between the traditional and the extreme futuristic.”
They went to the home town of model is Don Li, who is into cosplay, which is a Japanese costume play trend. “We did the shoot with her parents in her grandparent’s old house. I wanted them do their normal things and do this shoot more like a documentary than a traditional fashion shoot.” explains Leo and adds that the last image is a picture of the two designers of the brand, Andy and Joe. Combining this real life with something staged has yield something expressional.
