“Things like money or success come and go, nobody can give me the time back so I want to consciously take this time and use it to my best advantage.”
The work of Jones Wolfgang faces the viewer in an arresting and intense way. With his camera the Swiss, but Berlin and Hamburg based photographer stops the world from turning for a few seconds. We converse with him about the fascination of the human body, about being a small fish in the big ocean and if art has a gender.
How would you describe your work
To be honest it’s hard for me to describe my work. It’s about capturing the right moment and projecting it onto the observer to let them feel the same. There is no caption, no style or certain requirement, it’s only about what each and everyone wants to see and feel.
The female body is a constant in your photography theme. What fascinates you about the human body?
The human body has got so many facets and details that fascinate me.
With showing others intimate details rather than what they used to find important I want to change the approach of the human body. Imagine to really take time to contemplate your lover or even counterpart and look for the imperfect. The viewer must change their point of view to realize how much hidden beauty every body has.
How has photography influenced you as a person?
These days you get distracted by so many things that don’t really matter. Things like money or success come and go, nobody can give me the time back so I want to consciously take this time and use it to my best advantage. I think that photography made me realize this, with a camera I can stop my world from turning a few seconds.
Do men and women take different photos in your opinion?
No, I do not think thats true. Art has no gender.

Early bird or night owl
It’s a mixture of both if you turn night into day.
Where can we find you on a monday afternoon in Berlin
Either in the studio or in my bed with a cup of coffee.
Do you think that each one can change the world or are we all just small fish in a big ocean?
We are all a small part of the whole but I am sure that everyone of us could change the world for a better even if its just a little. The question is just if you want to see the world as the whole If you have the will and hold on to your goals you can do far more than you imagine.
What future projects are the cards holding for you?
I dont really think about such things. I hold on to what I think is right but still am open for everything coming.
