Prague’s list of cozy venues with a good soundsystem has slowly been extended in the last couple of years. The latest music club which can be counted to this imaginary list is Futurum Music Club.

This venue went through major changes during the last few months and now enters into a new chapter of its existence. From the beginning of April the club will present a series of parties simply called Futurum Club Nights featuring DJs and live acts from the electronic music scene.
There are not so many places in Prague with such history like Futurum Music Club. The venue whose history began in late 50s as a culture spot at Prague Smichov district firstly served as a place for performances and parade of young bands. In the 60s a club was established there and started an interesting chapter of this venue: concerts and happenings organised by members of an underground stream. For the mention worths events like Fish feast (a happening where a fishing net was used and the crowd used to be sprinkled with water) or Bird feast (quite a similar event with a naked lady pasted all over with feathers, flying pigeons and the music of Primitives Group). In the year of 1969 this venue became the place where the popular underground group Plastic People of the Universe made their concert debut.
Despite minor changes, the club survived till these days and its modern history involves mostly reconstructions of the interior; while the first one was conducted in 1998-99, the second one has just been finished and includes mainly a new soundsystem and program update. Until now, the Futurum Music Club presented mostly rock/metal/guitar music and 80s/90s parties but starting in April the program will offer electronic music parties as well. On the separate stages (Futuroom1 and Futuroom2 – chill out stage) the legendary DJ Robag Wruhme will play, who will open this new chapter of Futurum, experimental music diva Dasha Rush or musical magician Fairmont (full list of announced artists below). The visual part of the events will be under the wings of the Lunchmeat crew which stands behind the great Lunchmeat festival, so not only ears will be pleased but our eyes as well. We cannot wait!
