Tell me about your upbringing
I grew up in a town called East Greensting. I usually would play around with kids in my neighbourhood. I didn’t really go to other neighbourhoods. I just went with my friends from school to the park. There weren’t really many things to do there. My favourite subjects are drama, art, and textiles. We used to do singing, dancing and acting for the course that I did. We had to do musicals. We did quite a few musicals. I never really had big parts because I was quite shy so I had small parts. We did Mary Poppins but I can’t remember the part I had. I think I was the maid or something. (laughs)
Are your parents creative?
My parents are creative. My mom works with kids in a nursery. Quite a lot of my family like drawing. We are all arty. I used to paint and draw when I was younger but I haven’t done it for a while.
When did you start getting into fashion and beauty?
I started at quite a young age. I dyed my hair in a reddy brown colour at 11 and it was awful! My mom said it was fine. I’ve worn makeup since a young age and I didn’t really care about what I wore for fashion until I was older; like 13.
Who are your fashion inspirations?
Mainly bloggers. I do like celebrities fashion like the Kardashians but I also like street wear. I like Sarah Ashcroft. I like Monique but that’s her brand name. They are both from the UK. I enjoy looking through Instagram and seeing people’s style.
“I was scoutedĀ by the founder of my agency in the street. It was a bit weird. I was in Costa, a coffee shop, and they came out to me. I didn’t take it that seriously.”
How were you inspired before social media?
Probably just from school what people wore.
When did you start your blog?
I saw people doing it. I love posting on Instagram. I’m so addicted to it.
How did you get into modeling?
I was scouted by the founder of my agency in the street. It was a bit weird. I was in Costa, a coffee shop, and they came out to me. I didn’t take it that seriously. I thought they went around to every girl in the street and said something. I didn’t really think it would come to anything. I was surprised they asked me to come to the office the following week. At the time I was at college which is like sixth form, after you’ve done high school. I was studying fashion and I just did my first year and that’s when I got scouted.
Are your parents supportive of you modeling?
At first they thought we didn’t know where it was going to go because it’s was so random it could be anything. My dad has been really supportive which is interesting, because you would normally think it’s your mom who is.
Are you able to show your personal style while modeling?
When I’ve been doing modeling I’ve been giving up my style. I can’t really wear what I want. Most girls would wear all black which is kind of restricting. When I’m not modeling I would dress how I want to dress. If I am going to a shoot they would get me dressed anyway so I’ve lost my style a little bit.
What future plans does your agency have for you?
When I first started they wanted to see how it would go. I did two or three test shoots then signed for two years. They mentioned going to Asia. I think they’re trying to talk to agencies out there. They’re speculating at the moment, but possibly Singapore, Japan… It sounds so scary like going on my own!
