‘Curved Edge Straight Line’ is a song about searching for forgiveness from those close to you, while accepting your own faults.”
We are chuffed to premiere the new video by Art-pop project KYOTI for their single ‘Curved Edge Straight Line’ which is the follow up of their successful debut ‘Cave In’. The three-piece consist of Benji Huntrods, David Mabbott and Ed Burgon and they are taking inspirations from British Modernist sculptors like Barbara Hepworth and the surrealist optical illusions of M.C. Escher and artists such as Hot Chip and Joanna Newsom. With “Curved Edge Straight Line” the band succeeded again in creating a genre mix of unobtrusive pop, electro and various harmonic foreign genre elements.
“I went to Filippo Minelli’s smoke performance at Somerset House and fell in love with coloured smoke. KYOTI frame graphics in interesting ways on their artwork so we wanted to incorporate that in some way, too. Paired with body parts, strobe lights and slow motion, it quickly became an accumulation of everything I have been wanting to do for a while and the groove of the track lent itself to our vision perfectly.” tells director Daisy Finetto about the video.
