Currently Milan based photographer Cristina Altieri captures the sensuality of human forms, the beauty of the light dipping you or a spot into a story of everyone´s dreams, to keep a moment forever.
Whose work has influenced you most?
A lot of different artists have influenced my work in the last years, but I think that I had a sort of “lasting imprinting” when I approached for the first time the works of 70’s artists who worked with color films, such as William Eggleston, Luigi Ghirri and David Hamilton. I was really attracted by those warm, faded and bleached tones, they were impressively close to my dream imaginarium. Besides, when I started to take photos -about 8 years ago- film photography was powerfully coming back thanks to a lot of young artists, like Lina Scheynius, who approached photography with a natural, daily attitude which showed a sense of truth and sincerity easy to share.
What is the essence of a good image?
I think that a good image is capable of making you feel a strong emotion that lasts in time and space.
Where do you find the inspiration for your photographs?
I find the inspiration for my photographs in my everyday life and the feelings that come from that, especially the sad ones. It’s a sort of easing of tension, it helps me to objectify an experience making it shareble – and so – less painful when coming from something sad, or making it lasts forever when coming from a happy memory.
