“am i the one you’re thinking of?’ is an atmospheric 2 minute piece which follows 2 lovers, experiencing their perspectives of each other whilst visualising their emotions.
A group of British filmmakers were about to embark on a whirlwind filming tour of Australia. Before flying out from the UK they reached out to fashion stylist & creative director Angela Liang, who we’ve seen around C-Heads before. Angela was on styling hiatus, working on her fashion startup Lustr to help independent designers – but said yes to this collab so that these international strangers could come together to showcase indie fashion talent. Starring the models Ruari and Matilda. Cinematography by Toby & direction by Callum. Hair and make-up by Tammi Hendricks, colouring by John Layton, music by Anna Lotterud and production company is vimeo.com/slogfilms. Photography by Joseph Thompson.
“I thought “why the f*k not?”.” talks Angela about the project. “These are some keen, young, creative guys eager to shoot something cool. Let’s get some gorgeous Australian faces, let them do their thing on camera – and at the same time, give small fashion labels a chance to have some screen time. I loved the concept the guys came up with (can I say there’s a surprise? I won’t ruin the ending!). Instead of using the bigger brands that mags often like featuring, I’ve been working with inspiring indie designers for Lustr who are struggling against the giants of fast fashion every day, and I really wanted to shoot a piece that would mean something to them. For a bigger brand, it would just be another piece of content. For a smaller brand, it’s infinitely exciting to see their creations on screen!
The guys were excellent to work with, the models were great, and more importantly, the story itself has a significance that goes beyond a pretty face or two. Now more than ever, we want to put out creative projects that speak to equality and open-mindedness.
I’ve always admired C-Heads for showing beauty with heart. I’ve shot models who are strong, sexy, smart women for C-Heads before – like Laura Wells, the enviro-entrepreneur plus-size legend; and Amy Pejkovic the athlete-model with her inspiring story of overcoming brain cancer. I’m so excited that C-Heads is sharing something else we’ve done that is beautiful as well as meaningful.”
