Brazilian actress and model Joelle is currently based in Paris and showing us her natural spirit in this grainy moody series photographed by Shaira Luna.
“I photographed Joelle three years ago, during the last day of my first trip to Paris. We had only corresponded briefly via email before that, and I was nervous that we would not see each other at the Metro station. Thankfully we found each other and ended up shooting the whole morning, before I had to leave for my flight back to Manila. Freckled, pixie-cut, and with big doll eyes, she was a joy to photograph.
Earlier this year I returned to Paris, and what immediately came to mind was to get in touch with Joelle. Even without a mood board or a shoot plan, I was simply elated that she was in town and had a couple of hours to spare to hang out and take some portraits. With her new seventies-inspired fringe and free spirit, we ended up with this series. I think Joelle will forever and ever be my Parisian muse.”
