Lorde, Broods, Kimbra, Brooke Fraser; the list goes on – it seems Kiwis have recently been taking over the realm of moody, female-driven, indie pop. Joining the party today is the 21-year-old singer songwriter, Siobhan Sainte, with her debut single “Burn It Down.” Her sound lives in the same medium as her aforementioned compatriots, but breathes in a way that is entirely in its own. With the dance pop sensibilities of Tove Lo and the alternative grit of Garbage, “Burn It Down” brings grunge back into the modern pop music equation – something the 2010s have desperately needed.
“In the beginning, you’re introduced to a character who has a certain perspective of themselves, but that mold is quickly broken. It is burnt down. They wake to this question of “What to do next?” knowing change is inevitable. Therefore, it’s about growth from being stripped down to something other than your default perspective.”

“My influences include Mazzy Star, cigarettes after sex, and people who create things that transport you. Like a Wes Anderson or Anne Fontaine film, French art photography, haute couture…just dreams.”
