A bit of everything. Strange, wild and cool. Ukrainian model Shchiholov Vanya from Photogenics LA teamed up with photographer Danny Lane for a supercool black and white shooting. Besides modeling Vanya also mixes up some cool electronic tunes. Listen above.
“I saw Vanya on Instagram shooting with some other photographers in LA and I liked his style.” tells us Danny on the series. “I have shot with male models before but Vanya was especially fluid and creative with poses. We both love weird electronic music so I put some records on loud as he moved around the space. He is going to have a really great career and I’m stoked for him. I’m working on a feature film and already wrote a part for him as the villain.”
You might know Danny Lane more for his female work, so we were curious if there is a difference between working with male and female models. “I guess that’s one of the major things I liked most about Vanya. I didn’t really feel such a difference. Gender doesn’t play much of a role in this series. I just felt like I was making another photo series with another cool person.” he explains. “The one thing I will say is that I felt way more comfortable dealing with the clothing myself. Vanya and I are the same height and we are similarly slender. As soon as I saw him, I knew exactly what outfits I’d put him in. In these photos, Vanya is wearing mostly vintage from my own closet.”
