“I’m turning 30 tomorrow and I spent the last few days/weeks (Ok-I’m lying- the last few months) reflecting on my twenties, from my personal life to my work and everything in between. Have I achieved everything I wanted to achieve? No. But I have done so many other great things that I didn’t expect. Such as giving birth in five minutes and making a living from photography. My work has been published in magazines I used to read in my early twenties and brands I used to wear and adore requested to work with me. When I turned 20, I wanted to be a music journalist. Today, my name is associated with photographs of groups of girls wearing matching outfits. Things change. They always do. I’ve been photographing groups of girls for over two years and while I absolutely love doing this so much, I feel the urge to do something different. Photographing one model at a time is new territory for me and it scares me. I’ve been taking endless risks in the first half of my twenties and it’s always been so exciting. I want to take risks again.
In my first series with Berlin based gal Nina I used three different cameras, all loaded with expired film rolls (from 1988 to 1991) with a mix of colour and black & white. I wish there were more photos in colour but the film rolls were expired from 1988 and most likely not stored in the best conditions, which unfortunately resulted in many images not being able to be processed.”
