The two inspiring artists Lolo Bates (photography) and Jessica Jerskey (Paintings) set up an exhibition of their work in Los Angeles, CA on July 13th.
“We believe that what makes an image unique now is how much of the artist(s) you can feel inside of the image. This has definitely changed with the rise of the social media and of digital life in general. Both of us try to portray our work beautifully obscure, hauntingly surreal and bewitching.” they explain. “We titled our show ‘Psychic Slumber.’ “We all have our own cycles of doing and solitude, running and staying, being involved and being and being removed, and returning to the soul space. We believe this show resembles these cycles,” Women Who Run with the Wolves by Clarissa Pinkola Estes. The reason we titled our show ‘Psychic Slumber’ is we both have felt at times our creativity has been stifled by many things such as other jobs, health reason, insomnia and anxiety, and even romantic relationships. We now feel it is time to come out of this cycle and and continue doing, being involved, returning to the soul space and creating.”
