We sat down with muse Danielle Navarre to talk about social media, women and her city. Photograped by Jonathan DeHate.
What do you like most about yourself?
My personality and sense of humor! I genuinely care about people and their wellbeing – even if I’ve only known them for a short time. I am also a giant goofball, and make a fool of myself, simply to make others smile or laugh!
Are we overly obsessed with a woman’s body?
I wouldn’t say overly obsessed. A woman’s body is art, and art should be appreciated! I think there’s more of an obsession with the hyper-sexualization of the feminine figure. A woman can, and should, be able to show off her body without being viewed as a sex symbol or object.

What do you think about first thing in the morning?
Black coffee!!
What job would you never want?
Considering I just worked close to 200 hours in two weeks time, without a day off, probably my current one! I’m just kidding, I do enjoy my job! I’m honestly not sure there’s any job I wouldn’t want, for I think there’s something to be learned from any situation or position you put yourself in.

Are you currently in love with anyone?
Hopelessly in love, yes. In a relationship, no.
Are you proud of the city you live in?
I am! I live in a college town, which is a really awesome and unique experience. It’s really cool to be around a culturally diverse group of individuals. I’m proud to be an alumnae of the University of Florida, and it’s been a great place to call home.
“As a generation, we have the freedom to embrace and publicize who we are and what we believe in, using methods that were not available just a few years ago.”
Your generation is all about…
It’s about being able to express yourself – largely thanks to social media. My generation is open and willing to pass along knowledge, as well as express their interests and concerns with everything from social issues to the latest fashion trends. As a generation, we have the freedom to embrace and publicize who we are and what we believe in, using methods that were not available just a few years ago. This creates a new sense of engagement between individuals, that otherwise may never have had the opportunity to interact, and I think it’s really awesome!
