Don’t be fooled by the spelling – it’s pronounced “light.” She’s a singer-songwriter from Los Angeles who’s sound exists among the likes of A R I Z O N A and Chelsea Cutler. Her staggering voice and strong songwriting show on the newest single “Wind” a triumphant synth pop anthem for heartbreak – or bouncing back from it. “I know I can still love again / Reinvent myself, I am the wind,” she roars in the song’s larger-than-life chorus, making it apparent – 2018 could be an big year for LeyeT.
“Wind” is a song about growth, strength and love. The melody and lyrics came about very freely and naturally…I love when that happens. The producers of the track, Dylan & Mikeldi, sent me an instrumental to write to and I was inspired the moment I heard it. I wrote on past & current hurt – at the time I was experiencing emotions stemming from betrayal by a friend and just realized that no matter what, I’ll be okay. Instead of turning hurt into bitterness, this song for me represents turning hurt into revival and even fiercer love and life. I came out of writing this song feeling more alive and I hope that the listener can walk away feeling a new burst of life too.
