“Mujeres en la playa”, translates to “Women at the beach” in Spanish. Mexico has been hit by 3 tropical storms and 2 earthquakes in the month of September, so I decided to flee the city and escape to paradise just in case the world was about to end, I had to end it the right way, in Puerto Escondido.” talks director and photographer Eduardo Acierno about his newest series which is an ode to all women.
“Anyway my days there were the same as usual, waking up, walk to the beach, take a swim, do some surfing, eat, head back to the beach and watch the sunset, head back home and sleep. In the middle of all that, I decided to revive my photo series and give it a twist this time.
My last series was all about finding beauty and elegance through shapes and movement in the female body, and so this new series is a celebration to diversity. I worked hard casting local girls with different features, some are short, tall, skinny, curvy, Caucasian, white, black, Latino, etc. And in the end, it didn’t matter, because we were all celebrating female beauty through these pictures, shot completely on 35mm film along a small behind the scenes video of the making of this series.”
