‘Dragonfly’ is the lovely and touching opening track on Nahko’s forthcoming debut solo album “My Name Is Bear.” The freshly released video stars his close friend Paris Jackson and spreads so much positive energy and wraps you in a warm blanket of soothing and tender sounds.
The Dragonfly is a symbol of transformation and change. It follows Paris in an angelic and vibrant journey during a transformational time of her life, looking at her beauty and freedom as a young woman in the world.
“This video is something that I hold very dear to my heart. ” Paris explains. “There was so much love and light radiating from everyone involved throughout the creative process. It was amazing to see everyone working together to create this beautiful magic. I am so grateful to have been welcomed so warmly into Medicine Tribe, as well as to be a part of the bigger message and everything Nahko has been working towards.”
Nahko says: “It’s a perfect fit, no longer undone. It was a vulnerable thing, digging through the archives and dusting off this tune. With Paris creating a visual narrative of natural beauty, the journey of herself discovery and transformation shines boldly. Working with her came with such ease and humility. It is rare to find someone so genuinely themselves and so patiently available to co-create magic. Her brave approach to standing up for what she believes in and resisting the traditional format we’re trained to follow is clearly symbiotic with the song, the symbolism of the Dragonfly, and the work of myself and my band, Medicine for the People. It has been a joy to witness Paris empowering the world with her courage and I’m grateful to have captured a glimpse of her coming of age in this visual collaboration.”
