Watch out for London based singer & songwriter Y.A.S. The young talent just dropped her debut single “Chasing the Dragon” which creates a harmonic soothing cloud of sound.

“Chasing the Dragon is a metaphor I used to express my obsession for happiness. In my depression, I found myself in a hamster wheel of my own thoughts – constantly seeking happiness. Instead of living in the moment, I questioned and analysed everything; “Am I happy?” “What are you feeling?” My thoughts were predominantly occupied with the past, and I was on a mission to feel what I felt before depression. Conceptually, I felt this mental struggle was similar to that of chasing a drug high. Once you have felt that high for the first time, you chase that intensity, but it’ll never be quite the same. It almost becomes mythical, like a dragon. Happiness to me was so long ago, it was like a dragon that lived once upon a time.”

Chasing the Dragon – “My favourite thing about this song is that the dragon can represent anything. For me the dragon symbolises happiness when dealing with depression. Its all you think about, and long for, but because you are in such a negative head space; happiness has become something mythical like a Dragon.”

Her self-described style is also apparent on debut solo single is Chasing the Dragon, a song exploring the theme of depression and the obsession of finding happiness. The song’s music video is now available to watch. The artist had this to say about its making: “The visual for chasing the dragon is a series of editorial style shots, edited in such a way to create that never ending hamster wheel of thoughts, going around and around. The shots, different styles and colours, movements and editing dynamics demonstrate the inside of my mind and how chaotic and obsessed it became.”

Hello from my planet! I love nature, freedom, dancing, traveling, music, reading, chilling, cats and the woods. What makes me happy is healthy food, a good night out, long walks in the forest and getting lost in the sound of nature.
