Manon et Jacob are a photographic duo. “Our two pairs of eyes share one vision: shoot it as we see it.” Here is the story they have shot of each other.
How did you two meet and how long have you been together?
We were introduced by a mutual friend a year ago. Both of us were in relationships that needed to play out and end in their appropriate ways and during that time we became good friends and also started working together. But one day the stars aligned and seemed to whisper to us “go for it”. That was five months ago. We began our relationship and have carved out a beautiful life together and it’s been bliss ever since.
What is the essential thing that connects you to each other?
Laughter. And it’s that essential ingredient that binds any relationship. Everything in life changes – and that is okay. But if you don’t have someone to laugh in the face of adversity with – a comedic soulmate – then you have nothing. We find one another endlessly hilarious and entertaining and would gladly be stuck in the glummest of places so long as we had each other.
“Laughter is that essential ingredient that binds any relationship.”
Was this your first holiday together or how often do you do trips together?
We’ve been globetrotting a lot together. Our first trip was to Porto, where we spent a glorious long weekend with a group of friends. Since then we’ve made it our mission to find pockets of time to escape whenever possible. Because we often work together, we are able to take joint trips whenever there’s a break in the clouds.
What do you love about each other?
Jacob: I love Manon’s positivity. She’s endlessly optimistic and forward-thinking and I find it incredibly inspiring. She’s also the most creative, playful and fun person I’ve ever had the privilege of meeting. Our mutual love for making projects and our shared aesthetic and philosophy means we are forever bouncing off of one another, whether we’re working, cooking or just walking down the street. It’s joyous harmony.
Manon: There’s not one bit I don’t love about Jacob. His imagination, playful nature and excitement fill me with energy and happiness. His eyes send me soaring to the deepest oceans and his kindness fills my heart. His spontaneity never makes for a dull moment and his desire to try anything once always leads to adventure. We have endless chats and fun and I feel blessed to have him as my man.
