“I’m looking to take pictures of what strikes me but there’s always a reason.”
The dazzling picture language of Yosigo´s work obviate the need for a long description about them. Fascinated I sit in front of my screen and watch picture by picture where forms, colours, light and details blend into masterpieces. The Spanish artist tells us why the camera saved him, his motivation and the natural process of establishing himself.
Yosigo, your photo compositions are just so incredibly amazing. Your images are one of the most expressive that I have seen in a while. When did you discover this talent in you? Was it something you just „had“ straight away when starting with photography or you learned it with experience?
I started photographing without knowing very well why. I was a graphic designer but I was tired of spending many hours in front of a computer … I guess taking a camera saved me and today I would be unable to work on something else.
What is it with your fascination for details, forms and this nostalgic colour look in your images – is there a deeper message behind all this, a specific inspiration or it´s purely the creation of a perfect image that is in your mind?
I take pictures of what I see that I like. There is nothing prepared but it is true that I compose the image so that it is more perfect and beautiful.
Are you trying to capture your own feeling that your surrounding evokes in you or do you rather want to capture the scenery as an observer only?
There is always a bit of everything. I’m looking to take pictures of what strikes me but there’s always a reason.
“When there is good light it is very easy to see the beauty of things!”
You have a second instagram site called Mare De Deu that focuses on interior shots and light plays. It feels that you really see something special in almost everything. Do you find it difficult to sometimes not “see a picture“ in your surrounding?
When there is good light it is very easy to see the beauty of things! :-)
Your commercial work is great as well. You have worked already for brands like Declathon, Nutella, Jack Daniel´s etc. What were the obstacles for you to initially establish yourself in this field?
It has been a very natural and organic process … I have been learning from the mistakes in smaller jobs that later I have been able to solve in much more important works.

You are based in Barcelona and Basque. Where are you originally from and what means home to you?
I’m from the north of Spain and the ocean and the sea have always been a central element in my life. Seeing the horizon calms me down. It’s like being at home even if I’m away from it.
Other Photographers that you admire…
My favorite photographer and my most inspirational artist is Stephen Shore and my work is inspired by his work.
I am surrounded by creative people and this is a big influence for my work also.
Do you think that photography lost a bit of its value due to the amount of images circulating in social media?
On the contrary, I see so many things that motivate me more to continue working and generate content continuously!
Describe your personality with a film character…
I’m sure if the movie was scary, it would be the first to die haha :-)
Success is…
keep working everyday!
