“Storytelling helps me to find truth and meaning in life, its help me to conquer my fears and helps me mediate between life and death.”
Christopher Onah is a photographer based in Lagos, Nigeria and his work focuses on social issues, culture, and everyday rawness of life. He went to the Victoria Island coast line over Easter to capture the Gidi Tribe at West Africa’s biggest music festival, Gidi Culture Fest. Whilst shooting the stylish fun-seekers Christopher asked his subjects what music means to them and what they hope to find at Gidi Fest…
“GidiFest is always an amazing experience. I’m here to enjoy the music and take photos. It’s a festival full of action-packed events with lots of opportunities to capture really fresh content.” – Obinna
“You know my team is Hotfm with the culture and this place is pure vibes. You have to find a way to keep cool in the day though, you want some? ” – Uche Agbai.
“It feels like a sense of belonging and love for me and my Girlfriend to spend the Easter at the GidiFest this year.”
“This is the best time for us to enjoy the fresh air from the beach side and soak up the music”
“We literally came just to have fun. That’s it!”
“We come to Gidi as it’s a great opportunity to see and hear our favorite artists all perform within few hours. It is also a chance to meet new artists which you may not have found otherwise and the NextGen stage gives room for that.”
“We can’t afford to miss this year’s edition of the festival as we have been missing out from the previous ones. The experience of this festival will linger in our memories for the lifetime.”
”For us, it’s important to dance it out, make a new friend, and remember the fun of the concert. Patoranking will bring the party here tonight”
“I’m working at Gidifest for the second time this year. I’m a fan of Niniola, I love her stage performance because she’s full of energy and she is here to have fun to the fullest” – Otuosorochi
