Family is important.
It’s a simple concept, even cliche at times. It’s been around forever, but it’s still true. Indie pop artist Manatee Commune drives that point home on his most recent video for “Growing Pains”. The heartwarming video chronicles the story of a struggling immigrant and her son, a concept that many are familiar with, but in comparison, few experience. Complete with a vocal performance from west coast singer-songwriter Samuel Eisen-Meyers, C-Heads brings you an exclusive first look at the video directed by Christian Long below.
Director Christian Long on the video:
“As a director i have to find a way to connect with a story. Knowing that, I never want to insert my personal agenda into it. I want to connect but remain as objective as possible. People make the mistake of thinking that since their story is important to them it must be important to others but people want to see themselves in a character, not the director. And lot of people don’t get a chance to see themselves, especially in American films.”
“Growing Pains is a deeply honest track that Sammy and I poured our hearts into. When we super pumped when we read Mosss’s treatment for the music video because the narrative perfectly captured the heartfelt, truthful message we had crafted with the song and brought to life this incredible texture of nostalgia and dream-likeness.”
