“We shot the series in March on an overcast day in North London. Our location was a bright, plant-filled, eco house tucked away between rows of nondescript terraces.” explains photographer Nick Dearden, whose work usually is more architecture, travel and life style oriented. “Lizzie is a model, actor, writer, teaching assistant, tutor and barmaid – ‘just a typical London creative trying to get through life.’ The more I’ve gotten to know Lizzie, the more I’ve fallen in love with her positivity, industriousness and down to earth nature. I hope that the pictures convey some of that realness and inner strength. This was my first solo attempt at planning at carrying out an intimate shoot. Lizzie was wonderful to work with and threw herself into this project, giving loads of time and input at all its stages – I absolute couldn’t have done it without her feminine insight, enthusiasm, energy, patience and trust.”
There’s something in the way the
staircase curves that makes me feel at
ease.
The way the light from the window casts a
shadow just above my face in the
morning.
The way the creaks and taps speak to me
throughout the night.
This is the place I call my own.
When I rise, you’re ready to embrace me
in each room.
With your soft fabric on my toes and your
smooth walls that caress my skin.
You calm me with your warmth, from the
moment that I walk in.
This is the place I call home.
