The amazing pure and sensual series by photographer Héctor Alamilla and model Ana reminds us of the filigree beauty of our bodies. And that it’s our home from the first breath. A home that we should take conscientiously care of and love.
Ana, tell us a bit about yourself and where you grew up…
I’m Ana, I’m 23 years old. I love to write, to be alone, hang out with friends, be with Mila (my partner dog), read poems and mostly I enjoy thinking. I’ve lived all of my life with my lovely and big family in Guadalajara.
What inspired you to be in front of a camera?
I remember looking at my cousin (who lives in California) in a magazine. I was wondering how amazing it was that even if she lived far away from me I could see her at home in a picture. In my head that was making possible the impossible. And of course she was really cute. I just thought in that moment I wanted to be a model.
And what was the first professional shooting you have done? Can you remember an interesting detail?
I was 16 years old and I was really nervous. It was for a design school project. I felt like a mess. I remember many voices and just wanted to leave.
How was the shooting with Hector?
We wanted to work together some time ago, and finally made it now. It was just rad! You always know everything’s gonna be great if you are having fun. We had a cool time and loved the results.
Do you consider yourself an introvert or an extrovert?
Extrovert.
“Our bodies are magic, they speak. I believe we should let them be with respect and love.”
You seem very confident, have you ever or do you ever get self-conscious about your body?
To have a healthy body, you need a clean mind. I am getting each day more conscious about both, and the body knows changes. Confidence is something you gotta feed to yourself anytime.
Do you think we should all be more open about nudity and our own skin?
I think we should be open about people. We all have bodies. It all has to do with our intentions and communication. Our bodies are magic, they speak. I believe we should let them be with respect and love.
Describe your perfect day off:
Any day is perfect to me if I can write, listen to music and speak my thoughts. And I really love days with Mila.
Do you feel more like a city person or a country person?
City person.
“Any day is perfect to me if I can write, listen to music and speak my thoughts.”
What would you say is your strongest skill?
I’m introspective.
A book to read before bed?
‘La triste historia de tu cuerpo sobre el mío’. Poems written by Marwan.
What is your “happy” song?
Polvo de estrellas – Jorge Drexler
If you were to have one “famous” people join you for a coffee date, who would it be? And why?
I would love to have a conversation with Renee (Calle 13). Cause I love the way he writes.
