Photographer Verena Voetter represented by lilamanagement captured Lea, who is a Therapeutic Analyst, on film in Italy. And while we enjoy the view of the images that carry us off into charming Mediterranean flair we find out more about Lea´s psychology background, her close bond to her siblings and the importance of friendship.
What do you love most about yourself?
What I like most is that I keep working on myself, so I can grow and get to know myself better. I like to find out about my weak spots, talk about and accept them. I like laughing about myself, my job and also my inner child.
And what do you love most about life?
The relationship between me and my five siblings. The energy that is around when we are all together is incredible. I love that everything is flowing and the feeling to grow all the time. Furthermore I love my job as a psychotherapist because I can watch people grow everyday and I am a part of it.
“The energy that is around when me and my five siblings are all together is incredible. I love that everything is flowing and the feeling to grow all the time.”
Who influenced you the most?
At the beginning of my life and during my youth my two bigger sisters. They were an inspiration for me with their fashion style so I was wearing their clothes too. Right now our styles are quite different though.
My brother Aaron was my musical inspiration. Today he is a sound-engineer and musician; he has always had a great taste in music and he was always the one uploading music on my ipod in the earlier years.
My career choice was inspired by my parents, although they have nothing in common with psychology. I chose to study psychology because I wanted to understand why things were so difficult for them as a couple. Right now and during my studies the teaching of Günter Ammons ( the founder of the institute where I am working now ) has been a big inspiration to me and also my supervisor and my teaching analyst.
“I love my job, I really enjoy helping people on their way and to find their own freedom. I see it as a gift to get so close to so many different people.”
How important are friends for you?
Friendships are getting more and more important to me. With my siblings I always had someone to play with so I started to learn to care about friendships as I grew older and to make sure to take the time for them. As a child and in my youth I had one bff who was always there. To see and feel who is really a good friend was something I learned during studying psychology. Right now I can say I have a couple of very good friends, which means a lot to me and that makes me very happy. The most important thing for me is to exchange views with my friends and be truly honest so we can grow in this relationships.
What means art to you?
Art is a creative process from the inside to the outside. That means, that thoughts, emotions, experiences or similar things are shown or changed. So you can also say psychology is an arty act. Through telling stories we create something new.
Can you tell us about your job? And how did you get into it?
I love my job, I really enjoy helping people on their way and to find their own freedom. I see it as a gift to get so close to so many different people. One of my supervisors told me once, that every time through treatment something inside of us can heal as well, I think that´s why I get so much out of it too. But to be honest, the reason why I studied psychology was because of the despair I had out of all the heavy conflicts between my parents. I wanted to understand, why it was so hard for them and I wanted to have it easier for myself and my own relationships. I never thought I would actually work as an therapist, I thought i am gonna be a mother quite early instead. During my time in the psychological clinics I got in contact with patients for the first time and it felt really good, so then I knew I wanted to work as a therapist after all. I finished my training in May so I am now allowed to work as an Therapeutic Analyst and will join an office in January which makes me very happy.

The first thing you do in the morning?
I walk with my dog Jaspar in the park. That´s where we meet all the other dogs in this area and I watch him play and have some small talk with my neighbors. After that I chill with my boyfriend, a cappuccino and some scrambled eggs.
Where can we meet you on a Friday evening?
On a Friday night you can meet me at dudu, where you get the best sushi in town, or at “it´s a bar”, the bar of my partner. I love sitting there with a glass of red wine or whisky and watch some concert. Or you could also meet me at a concert of one of my siblings. Four of them are great musicians, some of them are playing all over the world.
A song we should listen to?
That´s really difficult as I like so many songs, music is an everyday companion. I love techno and classic and way more. So I choose something very worth hearing and you most likely don´t know it yet. I love this song. Have fun. Judith Ahrends- Echoes bei Soundcloud.
