Kush K aka Catia, Pascal, Paul and Nicola are all about strong vibes! They record in the middle of the night, cut their songs live and usually just go with the first take. It’s a foolproof way to keep the energy high, the music visceral and the recordings honest. You can feel this on their debut single Forever Only. There is a certain intensity about it that is very much akin to catching a live show where the band is lost in the zone, and they take you down the rabbit hole with them. Like with Devandra Banhart’s music (esp. the earlier records) and Jose Gonzalez’s Junip project, there is something very 60s about Forever Only. It sounds soft, warm and rough in that direct-to-tape sort of a way – very pleasing to the ear. And it also happens to be heavily seasoned with that psychedelic spice, i.e. it’s the perfect music to zone out to.
We are extremely honoured to premiere this wonderful video for Forever Only. It was directed by visual artist Isil Karata. The piece is a soulful visual poem that captures the magic of two friends dancing away into a sunrise, after what clearly was a great night out. The wonderful thing about it is that we never actually see anyone’s face and one of the characters is only dancing from behind the camera. Not only does this make for some great visuals, but by the end of the clip you have this uncanny feeling of actually being there.
