5 minutes with Leah Brown

We had a short chat with model Leah Brown of IMG Models about the meaning of beauty, success and modelling teaching her to be positive and confident. Photography by Kasia Sasinowska.

What brought you to modeling in the first place?

Fashion drew me into the modeling industry. When I was younger, my parents were devout Christians, so I couldn’t wear makeup or really express myself through fashion. Modeling really appealed to me in that I could do all of those things.

What has your profession as a model taught you for your personal life?

My profession as a model continuously teaches me to be positive and to be confident in who I am. There’s only one ‘you’, and you can’t be anyone else but yourself.

Do you have any role models within the fashion industry, like someone you would love to work with? ( photographer, model, designer)

I would really love to work with Chanel. I feel like the brand is so prestigious and boujie, coming from street couture I honestly think it’s one of the best brands. I would also like to work with Versace because the brand has very sassy vibes, similar to my walk. I’d love to shoot with photographer Steven Meisel. I love his work; it’s so iconic.

Are you an introvert or extrovert?

I am definitely an extrovert, but when I first meet people, I am more introverted.

Beauty means…?

To me, beauty means accepting and loving who you are. It means acknowledging and loving what might be unconventional and imperfect in the eyes of society.

Success means…?

Success means achieving every goal I set and being in the best position to help others do the same.

The most important person in your life?

The most important person in my life is Jesus Christ because Jesus is the Son of God. Without him, I know I wouldn’t be where I am today.

Party nights or chilled evenings at home?

Definitely party nights.

Favorite music you are currently listening to?

Lil Uzi just dropped Eternal Atake. That’s been on repeat.

Best life advice…?

Be original. Have your own mind. Stay true to yourself.
