Words from the photographer:
“I am sending this editorial from NYC, at the verge of its shutdown due to COVID 19. People I know and myself have been in self-quarantine for a week now. I never wanted my editorials to have a detailed narrative, yet this one seems to find itself one.
This editorial is inspired by the feelings of quarantine during this global emergency of COVID 19. The story is a fictional and poetic version of our lives under the threat of this pandemic, and I want to tell this story in order to express our fear of loneliness, boredom and invisible danger, as well as a sense of hope that we will walk out of our house and enjoy life again when this is all over. I hope you enjoy this!
Statement:
“The mood of Quarantine Times — In this hazy and cinematic editorial, we follow our girl Tanya around her suite at the Chateau Marmont. In the beginning, we see her live under quarantine as if everything is normal: breathing fresh air on her balcony, sipping coffee, looking into the mirrors… until strange feelings hit and she has nowhere to escape her cage of boredom. In the optimistic ending of the story, she leaves behind the quarantined Chateau, lights up her cigarette and enjoys the return of her long-absent freedom.”
