“I shoot on film because I believe that photographs on film have more soul than modern digital photographs. I hope these images transmit something to you.” tells us 18-year-young Italian film photographer Jada and shows us her latest photo session with model Giordana. And so for a few moments we go to ground in Giordana´s and Jada´s world exploring city corners, blossoming flowers and living day by day.
Giordana, tell us a bit about yourself and where you grew up…
I’m not sure what I should tell about myself as I feel I’m quite an ordinary girl. I enjoy travelling and hanging out with my friends. I love discovering new cultures and languages and that’s why I choose to study languages in high school. I also like all types of arts and I try to learn as much as I can. I have been taking courses of pottery, theater and photography and I still have so much to learn.
I grew up in Naples, in the south of Italy. I know I am not being impartial when saying this, but I think Naples is the most beautiful city in the world, I like the deep culture, the food, the friendly people, but most of all, I feel so grateful for the landscapes, I’ve always loved the sea and having the opportunity of seeing it every day is really important to me.
What would you say is your strongest skill?
Well, maybe I’m good at making people comfortable, my friends often tell me about things they’re worried about.
How do you deal with failure?
Honestly, I get angry at first but I don’t give up easily, especially if I’m really interested and I want to reach a purpose.
Do you feel more like a city person or a country person?
I think I’m a city person, I grew up in a frenetic city and like it, but I do also like the quiet country.
Your favorite book?
My favorite book is “The little prince”, I even got it tattooed on my arm.
What is your “happy” song?
This is the question that took me the longest time; in the end I’d say that maybe my happy song is “You Are My Sunshine” by Kina Grannis.
What do you expect from life?
I have so many plans, but I really don’t know what I’m going to do in the future. I’d like to do something in order to change the world – I know it sounds like an exaggeration… but now I just live day by day.
