“I am not ashamed of my own imperfections but I am also not going to be ashamed of my femininity, sexuality and growing awareness of my body neither.”
“All of my work is about body and self connection.” tells us Aleksandra Lenczuk, a young artist from Poland. Her aesthetically pleasing project Shameless Nature is all about auto portraits, a concept she started in 2018 where she tries to deal with her carnality. “I was tired of body barriers. On the one hand, I am surrounded by this Polish cultural framework, that is more and more willing to use body shaming of one’s own femininity. On the other hand, I am a young social media user where I am also exposed to things such as vulgarity, body shaming and complexes. I decided to say stop to all of those things and get back to the shameless nature. Shameless, not in a bad way. Shameless, because I decided to get rid off every single „you should” in my life. I photograph my naked body, the way it is. I am not ashamed of my own imperfections but I am also not going to be ashamed of my femininity, sexuality and growing awareness of my body neither.
