“Lilly and I have been planning this shooting for a while, but it took us about three months before we finally managed to get together to do it.” Sebastian Hufeld tells us about his new shooting starring Lilly.
The German photographer has discovered his great love for analog photography not long time ago. It’s about the excitement of not knowing what to expect when you pick up the film. In a world where everything is controllable, this is probably one of the most beautiful charms for an artist.
“In January 2021, I started to switch from digital to analog. And I love the feeling of “unplanned”. And somehow this was also the idea behind the shooting. Lilly and I just wanted to take photos without a “mood board”. I arrived at her apartment in the late afternoon and we immediately started talking about all the things we had to discuss after not having seen each other for ages. She poured me a glass of wine and we sat down in some incredibly comfortable chairs. While we talked, I took a few photos. Okay, to be honest, we talked more than we took photos.” he laughs.
“The pictures are exactly what I was going for: Nothing planned and nothing perfectly styled. I just wanted to capture the perfect moment for us, and you can’t plan a truly perfect moment, right? You can plan a perfect picture, but the feelings I wanted to convey can’t be planned. Sometimes it’s the imperfect that makes us feel perfect.”
