Meskerem Mees is one of those exceptional artists who needs nothing more than her incredible voice and an acoustic guitar to enrapture the audience. The Belgian singer-songwriter with Ethiopian roots reveals her personality, vulnerable and strong at the same time, always with a mesmerizing intensity of words and melodies. While listening to her delicate, beautiful voice she casts a spell over us and we completely forget the world around us.
Her debut album “Julius” is already waiting in the wings and is about to be released on November 12th. “‘Julius’, A name that from now on shall not only be associated with a certain famous Roman emperor, but also with the beloved donkey who grazes the field at my parents’ place and this musical documentary of my troubled teenage/ young adult brain.” she explains.
“The Writer” is a first taste and comes with a grandiose black and white video directed by Felix Ysenbaert and Michiel Venmans that perfectly reflects the atmosphere of the song. Little scenes written by life, thoughtful and loving at the same time. Moments that you can not escape because of their everyday and en passant beauty.
