“Living in an utopian society that wants to be „dystopian” searching for perfection on social media made me want to shoot different people that have something to say through their bodies. No filters, just skin, pores, flaws and life. Because life is outside the box.” explains Roxana Neacsu, 26-year young photographer based in Bucharest, Romania the inspiration of her work. And we immediately get caught by her shooting with Georgiana Timus. A unique intimacy comes into being between the model and the viewer and not just because of the nudeness.
“Skin is our identity card, the more you see, the more you discover about that person. Skin is the reflection of our health and the case of our bodies. Every person I capture is the reflection of my subjectivity about beauty. For me, the body is the easiest way of communicating. If you can’t fall in love with my soul at first sight, at least fall in love with my cover. And I fell in love with Georgianas uniqueness at the very first sight.” Roxana continues to tell us. And we certainly did too.
„When I was a little girl I used to hide my spots under clothes because kids are mean and they bullied me.” introduces Georgiana herself and adds: “Nowadays, I learnt to love my vitiligo and I transformed my disease in pure art, having enough courage to show the world exactly who I am. I dont perceive vitiligo as a disease, but more like a marking that not everyone has the chance to get it. Dont be afraid of being different, embrace the uniqueness.”
