Life is a journey, with many stops and challenges and at the end it always also about the search of oneself. Born to Jamaican and Nigerian parents, rapper and musician JyellowL has already had many different chapters along his way but never lost himself in the process. This groundedness exists perhaps also thanks to the love for his mother, who like him is a go-getter, never shying away from her responsibilities and never losing sight of what is important and ethical.
All this is also reflected in his music, it is powerful yet sensitive and vulnerable at the same time. His latest collaboration together with the talented North London via Cyrpus singer-songwriter Antigoni brought into being “Appetiser”, a track which exudes swell heat with its rhythmic vibes and definitely makes appetite for more.
JyellowL tells: “This song on first listen makes you want want to move your body from the beginning to end. The creative chemistry between Antigoni and I was immediate and I think it shows how we bounce off each other and go back and forth to create this storyline. The production is banging and we all wanted to make something that merged both our styles, the result is wavey. But there’s dichotomy in the lyricism and it’s actually a paradox, because on one hand I’m saying I want something substantial from this person. I want someone to feed my soul not an “appetiser” that’ll only temporarily satisfy me but on the other hand I come across a little impatient like I’m shallowly content with rushing things to just have a taste.”
