The new year has arrived and somehow a strange calm yet uneasiness moves around. The debut single ‘Elegy’ of London born singer and songwriter Xavier Collin acurately fits the current emotional situation. Calm and restless at the same time, the song babbles on insistently and unobtrusively. Not knowing what is yet to come, and leave behind a chaotic wave of emotions. Familiar things are lost in the turmoil of the roaring waves that know nothing but to follow their path. And yet searching for new shores, to arrive and find love and constancy.
Xavier says: “An elegy is a lament for the dead. In this context the death of a relationship between two people who loved each other but could not be together. It’s a reflection on the toxic nature of a love that was promised but never fulfilled – and how it can corrupt and take hold. I wrote this song like your elegy, to honour the disease you grew inside of me. It is also a reflection on the cycle of hurt that people can get trapped in and addicted to, I always loved the way you let me down.”
Born in London, Xavier grew up in France, New Zealand and Australia spending a lot of his childhood on the move. At age 30 he rediscovered his love of music and passion for song writing.
‘Elegy’ is taken from new ‘Coastlines’ EP released April 2022
