Evin means love in Kurdish. And we feel an incredible amount of love when listening to the music of the young talented singer, producer and songwriter Evin Kücükali, known as EVÎN.
There are not so many artists whose music really touches you to the deepest layers of your soul. A lot must come together, such as authenticity, songwriting talent, and that certain something that you can not put into word and which you can hardly create artificially. EVÎN has all of that and so much more. She plays the piano, puts her feelings on paper and all her passion is sparkling through her art. Born in Bochum, Germany, Evîn grew up in a family of Laz and Kurdish immigrants. Her father is a political journalist and activist, so political awareness and engagement, and addressing issues like social injustice and commemorative culture are important to her since early age.
Her intriguing latest single Snow – the first single out of her self-titled debut EP “EVÎN” – is so incredibly powerful that it immediately draws you in. The hinted haunting oriental sounds in between let you hear the beauty of cultural diversity, and the lyrics let you see into her innermost thoughts that stir you up and won’t let you go anymore.
