Photographer Felix Brokbals and model Karen Reichelt carried back their minds to oversized suits for women, shoulder pads and the fancy look of a an eventful time for fashion. He describes in details the inspiration behind the dateless seeming images shot in Berlin.
“Fashion editorial of the 80s, told on classic Kodak Gold, Portra 400 and Ilford HP5 Like many of my series, the mood is created on the spot. A coffee and a conversation beforehand lead to a little story in the back of the model`s and photographer`s minds. It is the thread on which the images naturally line up, so as not to slip incoherently into irrelevance. In this case it is the waiting and the pleasure of promenading. Letting your eyes roam over asphalt, concrete and passers-by. The cool morning and the cigarette in between Self-confidence and expression. The gaze into the distance directly into the camera.”
