A product of the Canadian maritimes, Luke MacDonald has been writing songs since the age of 8. A fairly successful dance music producer, he eventually reached a crossroads, one where his personal identity was feeling amiss amongst his artistic. After a period of introspection and rekindling passions, as well as an endured writer’s block, begins the next chapter, one where he is in the driver’s seat himself, this time as the artist. Enter chasing luma – MacDonald’s nom-de-plume under which he pens a sleek brand of indie pop that is equal parts danceable as it is pensive. His new single “motions” is a light-on-its-feet yet direct ode to the very rediscovery process that chasing luma was born out of, and it’s out now.

“At some point, my entire existence felt like treading water and barely being able to keep my head up. I was making all of my decisions based on the fear of disappointing others rather than what was best for me. “motions” is a glimpse of hope to find the energy to fight for yourself again. I hope anyone hearing it is reminded of the importance of taking time to prioritize yourself, and being honest with your own needs. Thank you for listening!”
