Nottingham based singer, songwriter and pianist Natalie Duncan released her debut EP “Natalie Alexis Duncan” at the age of only 18. Much has happened in her life since then, and her music career has taken big leaps. Among other things, her second album “Free” was released 11 years later and was named as album of the month by Echoes and Bandcamp.
But numbers and data show only a small fragment of her talent. Natalie has an exceptional voice, and stellar talent. Unobtrusive, atmospheric and reduced to the essentials, she sings her way into the heart and almost reminds you of the “good old” times when you almost had the feeling that the vocal power of a singer counts more than followers and sales numbers. We recommend you to listen through all her songs and fall in love with her spirit.
She tells about her new song “Hearts In A Cage: “I wrote this song during the second lockdown and I felt a lot of anguish during that time, a lot was going on socially. The lyrics are a love letter to women, especially black women and girls. It is a message about discovering and falling in love with your identity again after adversity and violence. I had in depth conversations with my Mum who is a Jamaican immigrant. Those powerful conversations lead to her voice being on the track…”
